The University of Birmingham Hockey Club is a very successful, organised and popular club within the Athletics Union. It has 4 ladies teams and 4 men’s teams, all competing at both University and Club level. Our Ladies 1s and 2s compete in the EHL National Premier division and Midlands Premier division, respectively. While our 3s and 4s maintain the high standard of our club, especially in their BUCS leagues and BUCS knockout competitions. In 2010/2011 our 1s and 3s became BUCS champions in both league and knockouts, with undefeated BUCS seasons.
We are a competitive and developing club, always striving to achieve more and looking for ways to progress on and off the pitch. Over the last 5 years the club has developed tremendously, with the help of Head Coach Philip Gooderham, and improvements continue to be made. Our teams benefit from training on the two Bournbrook water-based hockey pitches at least twice a week and from use of the well-maintained facilities at the University’s Munro Sports centre. We are also a sociable and supportive club, being one of the few University Hockey clubs that are fully integrated between men and women, which gives us an unrivalled club atmosphere.
